How much revenue can I count on?

published on 07.07.2010 in Earning potential

Here is a brief calculation of what kind of revenues you can generate with your social platform after launch. Numbers are projected on per monthly income. All statistics are based on our past experience, public data available from Google, Facebook and various other social networking systems.

The Assumptions:

Your TV Channel has 350,000 viewers who from time to time tune in to watch your TV Programmes. These are made up of 70,000 households/families (15% between ages 5-15, 28% between ages 16-24, 39% between ages 25-44) Altogether 82% of your total viewership is potentially sooner or later going to come to your social network and become a member (leaving the 45+ age out of this since they will not be your target market for online activity).

So, the potential visitors to your social network on your website is a huge number of 280,000 unique website visitor.

By Statistics from Facebook, 1 out of every 5 people under the age of 45 is a member of Facebook. Therefore a fair calculation will be that if you advertised your online community on your TV Channel your social network will sooner or later surely have 56,000 registered members in the age of 13-38.

This is the number which we will base the rest of the calculations on.

Other statistical data proven by Google and our past experience (so you can double check validity from outside sources and rely on this)

  • On average, every website visitor browses through 5x webpages during his/her visit.
  • The internet works with the following principlas. Visitors come and visitors go. Guaranteed. CTR (Click through rate) 1% of every website visitor leaves the website by clicking on a Google Advert.
  • When you have 2,000 visitors on your social network in one day /100 per every hour/ (this is 0.5% of your Channel viewers so very much pessimistic and realistic figure to base calculations on), each of them visiting 5x pages = this means that the impression rate of the PPC advertisements is 10,000 in one day.
  • 1% of 10,000 advert impressions is = 1,000. This is the amount of Google adverts which will be clicked on your platform every day.
  • After every clicked advert the platform earns from Google on average minimum 20 pence. Multiply that by 1,000 and you have a daily income of £ 200. That is every day, all automatic. On a monthly basis this equals to £ 6,000.
  • Advertisement placement is managed and sorted by fliber to ensure maximum income and smart but moderate positioning, meaning they are not disturbing on the site. Only Google ads are managed by fliber. All the rest of the advertising space is the TV Channel’s to sell without any revenue share to fliber.

This is an example calculation! and relies on only UK viewers and the fact that the Channel actually actively advertises the network on the AIR.
